Science Assessment in the New Curriculum

(10)
With the New Curriculum in force and Levels gone I have taken it upon myself to create a new assessment grid for Science. It works the same way as an APP grid. It also includes the Working Scientifically criteria. Like the New Curriculum, each assessment grid has been grouped into age ranges, KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2. Rather than Levels, which I know OFSTED are dead against, I have gone with 'Stages' which admittedly is essentially the same thing as Levels, but by a different name, Having tested these myself I know that these grids are handy assessment tools, with simple highlighting needed, with dates, to show how well each child has done.

Maths Arithmetic Treasure Hunt / Trail

This Maths trail is a really good, adaptable resource. It can be printed and put around the classroom, or outside on the playground / field. It really encourages children to use their mental ability. I've done this lesson outside and the children just loved it. It's simple, but effective.

Updated, slightly different Science Assessment

Here are updated Science Assessment forms for KS1, Lower KS2 and Upper KS2, along with guidance for how to use the assessment. This is what we use in my current school and its proven to be a simple, straight forward assessment process. I hope this makes life easier for everyone. Can be adapted to other school assessment procedures.<br /> This also covers &quot;Working Scientifically&quot; as well as all of the Science Units in the curriculum.
