Students are tasked with 50 non-calculator, problem-solving questions (some of which are multi-part/multi-topic and/or include diagrams/tables). The topics included are: straight lines (including parallel, perpendicular, concurrent, gradients, intersections), circles (including tangents and intersections of circles), logs (including solving log based and exponential equations, sketching transformed graphs, finding inverses and converting exponential form to straight lines based on a table of values), vectors (including the scalar product, 3D, unit and parallel vectors), functions (including transformations, differentiation, integration, inverses and composites), trigonometry (including the wave function, graph sketching, exact values, revision of identities, and solving equations), optimisation, and polynomials (roots and stationary points). Students are tasked to explain why certain inputs to a calculator produce errors. The questions are grouped by topic heading. Some may allow more able students to be challenged somewhat as some of the questions (while still being fully relevant to the syllabus) may be slightly more challenging than those usually set in homework exercises.

There is a section on 'finding the errors': 15 SQA non-calculator exam questions are answered in ways incorporating very commonly made mistakes e.g. conflating differentiation with integration, mixing up perpendicular vector and perpendicular straight line theory, cancelling trig function common factors, omitting brackets around substituted negative numbers when finding a magnitude of a vector, using the factor rather than the root number in synthetic division etc.

The booklet concludes with a Higher Maths vocabulary crossword test.

Key words (including "congruent", "concurrent", "perpendicular bisector" etc) are highlighted in bold throughout the booklet and students are encouraged to copy these down along with their definitions into revision notes.
