Lesson 1 examines the role of the BBFC in film regulation, contains a quiz on the age certifications on film products in the UK, and provides learners with a factsheet and task relating to the BBFC's guidance on Spectre. The lesson culminates in a mock Component 1 Section B exam paper relating to all of this key film industry information and the issues/debates which surround it.

The ‘Print Products’ SoW this lesson is part of develops learners' ability to analyse any print product, whether set or unseen, through using a memorable, repeatable, detailed and specific approach to analysis. There is continual reference to a number of set texts that are expected to be covered as part of the reformed 9-1 GCSE in Media Studies. As well as exploring the conventions, media language, representations and ideologies embedded within print products, learners will develop their understanding of the key concept of regulation including how and why industries are regulated in the UK (linking to the Component 1 Section B exam paper).
