A resource to allow students to practice reading typical unstructured amount of substance questions to pick out starting points (i.e. “what can we calculate first from the information given”).

Students should be familiar with mole calculations first (in terms of mass = mol x Mr and mol = conc x vol), and gas calculations (including the ‘rule’ of 24dm3 and the ideal gas equation).

The questions can be used as a challenge set if you ask students to carry out the calculations to their conclusion, and full workings are provided in the answer document for this.

Created pretty much from scratch, so ideal for extra practice questions once you’ve exhausted other sources.
Created for Edexcel A-level chemistry. Will be applicable to other exam boards.
