Activities to support learning the five times table (5 x table)

This booklet contains a structured series of activities designed to support children to become fluent with the 5 x table. Carefully planned to include progression in the use of a range of structured images and representations, these activities will support children to gain a conceptual understanding of the multiplication table and become fluent with both the number facts and with how these facts can be used to derive other facts. The booklet includes activities designed for children at the very start of their journey towards understanding multiplication and also provides challenge for those who already may have recall. There are opportunities for children to develop their reasoning skills including making connections, explaining their thinking, logical problem solving and deriving new facts from known facts.
