Book 1: Let’s Go on a Picnic
Students will listen to a repetitive text & select the right food from a choice of 8 items. Each page states, “We/I like to eat,” identifies a food, and provides picture support. Follow up with discussions by having students determine if they also like each item mentioned. Foods included: drink, hamburger, hotdog, tomato, watermelon, smores, corn on the cob, and ice cream.
Book 2: Summertime Colors
Students will listen to a story with repetitive text (“I see a”) and identify the item. The items are focused on summer & 10 different colors. An excellent book for practicing color recognition.
Book 3: Things to Do in the Summer
This book has vibrant colors to enhance the feeling of summer. A variety of activities are represented in this book. Students will continue developing high-frequency words with the repetitive text “I like to.” Activities include baseball, catching bugs, fishing, picnics, swimming, having a lemonade stand, and bubbles.
Book 4: What to Wear in the Summer
This book has students selecting the correct items of clothing for each situation presented. Each page has “I want to,” followed by “so I need.” For example, students will select sunny days, swimming, and gardening items.
