This is an introductory lesson on Africa. The learning is focus on the location and key features of Africa and is the first in a series of lessons on Africa. It is suitable for KS3 students but teachers can easily adapt it for GCSE group. Key facts about the lesson are:
1. All the resources for teaching the lesson are included. The ppt has everything from starter to plenary including all the teaching resources for the lesson. Download and just teach!
2. The lesson starts by looking at the location of Africa from different perspectives. It then develops with students identifying and locating some amazing features of Africa using maps and atlases. There is a quiz at the end of the lesson that can be used to monitor progress.
3. The lesson is mainly a map skills lesson so students will be engage in practical way. There are opportunities though for group discussions.
4. There are slides with the answers to the question posed in the lesson which will help with self assessment.
