Arrange class in friendship pairs. One of the pair forms a group which can then be tutored through the algebra questions by the teacher so that they can assist their partner using the help sheet. The other half completes the revision questions under exam questions. Alternatively, depending on the ability of the half group, they can be taught a new topic which they in turn can then teach the other half of the class later in the lesson or on another occasion. Students - even the most challenging! - seem to like the responsibility of looking after their friends’ learning.
