Each poem is covered by two lessons with a focus on language, structure, context and making comparisons with opportunities for individual and collaborative working. Some differentiation is also included for your lower ability students.
There is a focus not just on the structure of each poem but also on how to structure your own essay response.
Each lesson features a ‘settling’ slide for students to consider as they prepare to start the lesson whilst teacher is doing the register.
I currently teach the Power and Conflict poetry in three chunks. This collection focuses on the last 6 poems and I use it towards the end of Year 10.
However you choose to use them, I hope you enjoy these lessons as much as I did making them.
