Avatar: The Way of Water Movie Guide | Worksheet | Questions (PG13 - 2022)

Avatar: The Way of Water Movie Guide challenges students to explore changing character relationships and character traits. Evaluate character conflicts. Identify and explain symbolism and how foreshadowing is used throughout the film. Examine and define nuanced word choice that contain greater meaning. Think like a director and describe the techniques that allow the viewer to connect better with Payakan, the Tulkun. Finally, research the whaling and ivory industries and compare it to the Tulkun hunting that occurs in the movie.

This resource consists of 16 high-level, short answer and essay questions that will do more than just ask your students to regurgitate information.

  **CCSS Note: I’ve taken the liberty of aligning certain reading standards with the act of consuming content via the movie instead. Although students are not reading they are asked to perform the same cognitive functions on the content that they consumed from the movie.

**Distance Learning Tips:

• Distribute the Google Slides version to each student
• Use the screen sharing tool on your group call software to play the movie
• Pause the movie at each question to give students time to write/discuss
