Children are encouraged to do a bit of birdwatching and to make a tally chart on what birds they see. I usually set up a bird watching zone in my class (I'm quite lucky as my class over looks where the bird table are). I then blow this sheet onto A3, and the children are free to add to the tally chart throughout the day. It's quite interesting to look back over our findings, and I often hear the children saying how there are 'a lot more magpies than robins.'
