Activity 1 January 2024 Exam
Unit 4: Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care
These documents help students prepare for Activity 1 ‘the suitability, validity and reliability of research methods’ - based on the January 2024 controlled assessment and exam on the article 'CREATE stroke recovery‘ study.
The focus is on the evaluation of the research methods used for the pre-release article CREATE stroke recovery.
Document 1: Teacher ppt. contains key definitions, exam structure and analysis of the case study methods +/- to discuss with students
Document 2 : a student planning sheet, to prepare notes for their controlled assessment
This ppt is full of up-to-date helpful prompts and ideas to assist students to prepare appropriately for their ‘controlled assessment’ and external examination using the January 2024 example.
Hi Risa, the planning sheet for ‘task 2’ is the A3 ‘word’ document’ it is a grid for students to make notes from the ppt. This TES resource should have two documents to downloads, firstly, the applied theory in the ppt that you can discuss with students on the ‘suitability, reliability and the viability of research methods used in the stroke unit study’, you’ll note this is evaluative to allow for a balanced exam answer. Secondly, the A3 word planning sheet for students to make notes, they can use this to formulate and attempt written answers. I personally get them to practice on blank past papers using the completed A3 planning sheet, as only the research study changes and not the question for activities 1-3.
Let me know if you haven’t received the two downloadable resources as this isn’t acceptable and I will contact TES or if you have additional questions.
Kind regards G

Hi Risa, can I add that the two tasks I refer to above (Task 1 ppt and Task 2 planning sheet) are both for activity 1.
Just in case you are confusing Task 2 with the exam question Activity 2?
This is a completely different question and resource on ‘the importance of the research into stroke recovery’ that I have available here:

Hope that helps, kind regards G
