This unit (AO2 STRUCTURE) uses engaging extracts from Roald Dahl's fiction and non fiction texts, including 'James and the Giant Peach,' and 'Boy', to fully introduce, explore and assess this crucial assessment objective with pupils. This unit is suitable for pupils in years 7 or 8 and it could also be used as an introductory GSCE foundation unit for some Year 9 and 10 groups.

This new series replaces the traditional KS3 assessment criteria (APP or AF's) with NEW GCSE Assessment Objectives (AO's) However, that does not mean that the creativity and imagination need to be a thing of the past! In this new series of units, Key Stage Three pupils are introduced to NEW GCSE English Language Skills in creative and imaginative ways to build foundations and continuity for pupils as they progress through the key stages.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Tailored to and built around official AQA pilot material for introducing and exploring GCSE English Language Skills at Key Stage Three. However, easily adaptable to new OCR, Edexcel & WJEC specifications. AO1 - 6 and the skills are universal across all exam boards. Simply adapt the exam question tags in each unit to match the placement of each AO and skill across each exam paper/question depending on the required exam board .

The units are built around the official AQA Key Stage Three PILOT ASSESSMENT Material, copies of which are included in the download.
