This lesson provides a brief introduction to cinematography by explaining some basic shots and angles and the rule of thirds. Students are then asked to examine a range of still shots and consider how the cinematographer has used features such as colour and lighting to create beauty and how composition creates meaning. There are a few slides introducing students to the basics of a DSLR camera. There are also slides with suggestions for how to be creative in shots, i.e. by using reflections or creating coloured filters to put over the lenses of the cameras.
