Suitable for Year 8 / KS3 Chemistry

Lesson plan - merging Lesson 1 and 2
Starter - Using the periodic table for the first time to identify chemical symbols for elements (5 - 10 minutes)
Main - Introduction to balancing equations with see-saw animation, periodic table diagram explaining how charges work, results table for lead nitrate/potassium iodide demonstration, conservation of mass questions (in grams), balancing equation GCSE style questions (20 - 40 minutes)
Plenary - Bingo 3x3 square in books - students write down chemical symbols, teacher reads out the word formula/common name and students must identify which symbol it correlates with (10 minutes)
