Word Family Mini-Book:
Have students rainbow write their –at words and draw a picture of each word
-at Family Sentence Practice
This is designed to be homework. Send this home with your students to practice writing sentences using their –at family words. There is also a parent signature on this page saying they have practiced –at words with their child for at least 10 minutes that night.
The Cat, the Rat, and the Hat Poem
Students can practice reading the words they have just learned with this poem. Pages have been provided for student to read and illustrate the poem as well.
Letter Tiles and Spelling Mats
Students practice spelling the word- using letter tiles on the word picture mats. You can also laminate them/or put them in a sleeve and have students write the words using dry erase makers.
-at Index cards
These are designed to be printed directly onto index cards. This saves so much time in cutting! Print the side with the picture on one side and the plain word on the other side. I print a set for each student- and an additional set for myself to place on my word wall.
-at Family Quiz
I give students a quiz on their word family at the end of each week. The first page I dictate a sentence to them. The second page they have to come up with their own sentences using the –at word pictured.
Also included are step by step directions for printing onto index cards.
