This resource is intended for UKS2. The units are intended to be taught with children sitting in mixed ability pairs. Talking and class discussion form a large part of the unit with children also writing written responses in the booklets.
Guidelines to the teaching of the unit are included and many of the skills come from research in Doug Lemov's Reading Reconsidered. The role of the teacher is to facilitate and extend thinking. The onus is on the pupils learning from each other through discussion and debate.
