This is a fully resourced lesson - probably 2 lessons worth. It has been designed with my Foundation Tier Combined Science group in mind but would be fine for Higher Tier students. It covers the following…
Drugs, Aspirin, Digitalis, reminder on Vaccines and then onto antibiotics and antibiotic resistance.

It has several tasks included

  1. Cards - each student shares the information on their bench about drugs, vaccines and finally antibiotics. There is a question sheet to put together answers as a group or as individuals.
  2. Includes a video link about Alexander Fleming and the discovery of penicillin
  3. Has a ppt animation to help students understand antibiotic resistance
  4. Includes a statement sort that they can then put into a storyboard - students can draw appropriate diagrams to help them understand the concept (correct order is included).
  5. Video about the causes and a brief explanation of each.

I hope you find it useful. It worked well with my students.
