This lesson considers the influences on Cotton Mathers and his on others, and the teacher will need access to the Edexcel course textbook.
Pupils start with a creation task, followed by an exploration into Mathers beliefs, and where they came from, including exerpts from one of his publications.
The lesson then goes into a bit part active recreation of the Goodwin possession (the teacher needs to do create the sheet, but guidance is given) and pupils will fill in the handout as this recreation is constructed.
Pupils then consider the impact of this event on later events in Salem, before a summary comparison between the key figures of Hopkins and Mathers.
