Five experiments for students to do exploring the properties electrical cables. Either as a standalone lesson or over a longer period interweaved with electrical resistance theory.
1. Tensile strength
2. Resistance and type of metal
3. Resistance and cross-sectional area
4. Resistance and temperature
5. Resistance and length
These experiments have been fully tested and work well with simple equipment you will have in the prep room. I’ve done all the trial and error work for you!
All variables covered allowing students to discover their relationship with resistance or tensile strength. They will familiarise themselves with the equipment and circuits necessary to measure the resistance of a wire.
