This extract gives students an introduction to the theme of Fate in Tudor / Jacobean England. There is a comprehension exercise which allows students to develop a full understanding of how contemporary beliefs affected people.

Then there is an extract-based activity closely analysing Act 3 Scene 5. Students will be able to bring lots of contextual knowledge to this section of the play.

The final part gives an exam style question which can easily be edited for either the AQA or Edexcel exam specification. The question focus is patriarchy.

The lesson comes with a writing activity which allows students to imaginatively develop ideas from the extract. This resource is suitable for KS3 students, or weaker KS4 students.
