An enhanced wordsearch suitable for key stage 3 or 4. Can be used as a starter or a literacy based activity.

Rather than just finding a list of words pupils have some additional tasks to extend the time, complexity and skill set required.
Pupils must:
- Find the 10 keywords all linked to the theme of the wordsearch
- Locate and correct the misspelled word
- Find the additional 3 words not in the word list (They aren’t linked to the theme)
- Identify what links the 3 secret words i.e square, circle and triangle would be names of shapes
Similar sheets are available for a vast array of topics. Or why not consider purchasing the master pack which includes all 39 wordsearches…that’s one a week for the whole year!
These are an excellent way of helping to develop reading, literacy and scanning skills. As an additional exercise I ask pupils to keep hold of their wordsearch for the lesson and tick off every time they hear one of the keywords used in the lesson.
