Fact Family Mat (KS1)

This pdf contains two Fact Family Mats which can be printed in colour and laminated as single sheets or back-to-back.

Aimed at KS1, on one side the children can use double-sided red and yellow counters to make the calculation e.g. 7 + 4 using 7 red counters and 4 yellow counters. They can then work out the addition and subtraction facts using the colours to help them:

Addition Facts
7 + 4 = 11
4 + 7 = 11
11 = 7 + 4
11 = 4 + 7

Subtraction Facts
11 - 7 = 4
11 - 4 = 7
7 = 11 - 4
4 = 11 - 7

The other side of the mat contains a bar model and part-whole model to give children practise in different representations.
