Fairtrade

This resource contains a fully editable, simple text, 75-slide PowerPoint presentation on the Fairtrade movement and Fairtrade Fortnight. It is an ideal assembly for primary school aged pupils on Fairtrade Fortnight and World Fair Trade Day.

The PowerPoint explains what Fairtrade is and its positive impact on the lives of farmers and workers in developing countries around the world. It contains hyperlinks to two videos about farmers’ co-operatives - a cocoa co-operative and a banana co-operative. It also contains a link to Martin Luther King’s ‘Peace on Earth’ speech Martin Luther King in which he talks about the world’s inter-dependence. He gives testimony to how much we rely and depend on farmers and workers around the world in our lives for our everyday needs.

It concludes with several questions to challenge pupils and to get them thinking about Fairtrade.
