Part of a unit of work creating a lockdown scrap book.

Four lessons provided:

  1. LO: To reflect on lockdown. Questionnaire to generate reflections and ideas for diary entry.
  2. LO: To use the perfect tenses. PowerPoint explains how to form and when to use the present perfect and the past perfect tenses. Task to write own perfect tense sentences that can be used for a lockdown diary entry.
  3. LO: To write a lockdown diary entry. Features of a diary entry checklist provided. PowerPoint provides structure for a long, detailed lockdown diary entry. First half written on one day…
    Paragraph 1: set the scene
    Paragraph 2: before school closure
    Paragraph 3: when schools closed
  4. LO: To write a lockdown diary entry. Second half of diary entry…
    Paragraph 4: Lockdown reflections
    Paragraph 5: Remote learning reflections
    Paragraph 6: Easing of lockdown

PowerPoints include a modelled diary entry. Prior to these 4 lessons, I would advise spending a lesson reading different example diary entries and picking out the features from the checklist. Designed for a Year 3 class but suitable for all KS2.
