These resources have been designed to subtly embed the valuable functional skills learners require to get the most out of education, work and everyday life and to help them function more confidently, effectively and independently.

Each resource has been proven to educate learners on a variety of subjects that will enhance knowledge as well as promoting creativity and individuality.

This particular ‘Healthy Eating’ installment focuses on ‘Understanding Calories’ and also includes an interactive game of Higher or Lower.

The workbook is broken into 5 tasks:
Task 1 - Learners to watch a informative TED Ed video and take notes in preperation for a questionairre to conform understanding.
Task 2- Learners to Answer question using notes taken and then go through answers with each other and tutor. (Answers on last page)
Task 3 - Activity where learners are required to estimate how many minutes of walking it takes to burn off calories count from a selection of foods.
Task 4 - Learner will list 10 favorite foods and research the calorie count for each. They are then challenged to create a 3 meal Menu where the total calorie count is as close to their own RDA as possible.
Task 5 - The Higher/Lower Calorie Game.

A really effective resource, as usual. The only slight issue was that there was no direct link to the video that is referenced. However, I found it online easily: https://www.ted.com/talks/emma_bryce_what_is_a_calorie/
