GCSE Biology: Osmosis Investigation

This is an all inclusive worksheet pack on the well-known osmosis and potato chip investigation. In reality this practical does not always generate the expected results due to sources of error and time constraints to set up, hence why I have put this investigation pack together.
All answers are provided for the teacher.
The pack contains the following:

1. Worksheet 1 introduces the set up of the investigation and pupils need to come up with a hypothesis. Pupils are given results and are asked to calculate change in mass and percentage change in mass.
2. Three versions of the graph paper are provided, each with a different level of support, as many pupils will find drawing the graph with a negative y axis challenging.
3. Worksheet 3 focuses on identifying the different variables and drawing a conclusion from the results.
4. Worksheet 4 focuses on sources of error and how to improve the practical to reduce these, so focuses more on developing pupils’ evaluative skills. There are also extension questions on osmosis and its effect on cells, for those students who may work quicker through the activity.
