This five-page German activity worksheet explores the history and social aspects of International Women’s Day (Der internationale Frauentag). It aims to equip students with the vocabulary and structures to talk about the day itself, as well as wider themes of social engagement.
The worksheet comprises four short texts along with comprehension questions and glossaries of key words for each. A strong cultural element is included, with discussion of some key pioneers from the German-speaking world. A third page includes vocabulary exercises to consolidate new words, with a true/false quiz on the fourth page. A fifth bonus page features a dialogue to model speaking about the topic, as well as a dialogue activity for students to complete in pairs.
The language level is around A2 on the CEFR scale (ideal for a proficient Year 8/9 group or pre-GCSE topic), with plenty of cognates designed to encourage gist-reading longer texts.
A page with answers to all the questions is supplied at the end of the worksheet.
