Resource 1 - Goal Setting This integrated reading and speaking resource is based on the topic of goal setting. It is designed for Intermediate level Adult ESL/EAL students. There is enough material for at least 3 lessons and as well as an in-depth look into goals, there is also material on overcoming, obstacles, dealing with distractions and time management. Topic related vocabulary, developing reading skills and lots of speaking/discussion opportunities are embedded in these lessons. In this resource you will find 11 varied Activities that include: 3 x reading texts and comprehension activities. 4 x Vocabulary Activities 5 x graphic organisers Teachers’ notes Answer keys Resource 2 - Needs Analysis It's a great way to get to know your students while at the same time teaching them useful language. Your students will also appreciate that you are taking the time to find out about them and their learning needs. There is enough material for at least 2 lessons This Needs Analysis Lesson has 3 aims: Help students think about their language learning needs and be an active part of the process. This could be a very different style of learning than they are used to (depending on their previous experiences). Gives you, the teacher, an insight into what the students need to learn and how they prefer to learn. Provides the students with the metalanguage they need to discuss their learning, needs and expectations. There are lots of opportunities for speaking in pairs and groups. Included in this resource; A reading activity with 2 texts and 2 types of questions 5 vocabulary activities A set of Vocab cards that can be used in a variety of ways 4 different needs surveys/questionnaires 2 graphic organisers Lots of opportunity for a pair and group work Detailed Teachers notes Answers to Activities Both resources are designed specifically for adults. It incorporates language that adults will need to use and situations that are relevant to adult learners.
