Grammar assessment I have used with EAL children in year 5 at the beginning of the year. I found it helpful to decide which grammar topics I needed to focus on with the class.

As a base line test this was good with the assumption the students know what present tense to be or to have verbs are.<br /> For me it required a teaching focus in that I had to teach what present tense verbs are then forms of to be and to have.<br /> Also.. we are using functional grammar more now, so terminology is becomming out dated
