Halloween- 'The Canterville Ghost' Reading Comprehension with Audio

A variety of activities aimed at intermediate level students (both ESL students and native speakers) for a one-hour lesson about Halloween. First, there is a powerpoint quiz with 12 questions about Halloween. A reading comprehension text based on the famous novel “The Canterville Ghost” by Oscar Wilde follows accompanied with a 5 minute listening audio file so that students can also listen to the text. There are some comprehension exercises (character matching, order the sequence of events, circle the correct answer), a gap-filling vocabulary exercise where students are also asked to identify the part of speech of each new word. It also includes a fun activity where students have to crack a code in order to reveal a secret message. Finally, students are asked to complete a writing activity as if they were ghosts. Answers are provided.
