Study of the work of Hokusai, mainly focused on ‘The Great Wave’. This unit includes:

  • Artist research (Who is Hokusai?)
  • A study of art styles (Use of lines and colour)
  • Opportunites to design a piece of art (Focus on composition)
  • Painting in the style of Hokusai

All planning, slides and worksheets are included.

Objectives:
Lesson 1 - Drawing lines to show movement using Hokusai to influence.
Lesson 2 - To recreate an image of a beach in the style of Hokusai.
Lesson 3 - To understand the use of composition in creating artwork.
Lesson 4 - To adapt a composition and paint in the style of the great wave.

This unit is split into four areas of learning which can be completed over a half term or as part of a block.
