Full resources for an engaging and informative introduction to WW2 with a Glasgow/Scottish focus. Pupils will develop a context for what life was like during the Great Depression and learn about the social implications of the end of WW1. They will learn about Glasgow's 1930's expansion, fashion and technological developments and how these impacted society, whilst being able to look at genuine photos from in and around Glasgow in the 1930's.
They will create a 'character' who will be their mascot as they explore WW2, experiencing the turmoil of the war and how it affected men, women and children through the eyes of their characters and their families.
Pupils will end the lesson by hearing Neville Chamberlain's Declaration of War, which will set up the rest of the learning throughout the WW2 topic.
