KS3/4 - Enrichment / End of Term Activity: Travel Survival 101

Enrichment or end-of-term lesson which could form part of PSHE.
This lesson teaches students about how to travel sensibly and successfully abroad. The lesson is best taught with laptops or in a computer room as they are necessary for the independent student group activity.

This lesson:

• Lasts from 45 mins to 1 hour.
• Can be taught (and adapted) for any age from Y7 to Y11.
• Has printable resources included as hidden slides within the PowerPoint.
• Has visually engaging slides.
• Contains different types of world maps and gets students thinking about their geographical situation (in the UK).
• Encourages independent thinking, student accountability and hones transferible skills.
• Has real-life application.
• Familiarises students with key sights and places around the world.
• Motivates students to aim high and see the potential benefits of travel and work abroad.
• Contains lots of fun facts for the students.
• Provides useful links to help students plan a journey/trip abroad sensibly.
• Allows students to consider the monetary implications of traveling and how to organise a budget.
• Educates students about everyday concepts such as safety abroad, entry requirements, when to contact the relevant consulate/embassy etc.
