KS3 Art & Design Unit of Work - Clay Faces
Introducing to you a rich 10-week project (10 lessons) where KS3 pupils produce clay faces based on their chosen art style forming their artist identity
This Unit of Work includes:
- 10 PowerPoint Presentation slides which includes starters, context, main lesson and plenary which can all be easily followed
- A PowerPoint Presentation of all worksheets that are ready for printing
- Video tutorials for educators and students
- A list of easily accessible materials and equipment needed for the project

You will need:
- A printer to print the resources
- A4 folders for each pupil
- Air drying clay
- Clay tools
- Paintbrushes
- Acrylic Paint
- White emulsion/gesso paint

This project will be suitable for:
Art, Art, Craft and Design, Fine Art, 3D Design, Sculpture
KS3 - ideally Years 7 and 8 (11-13 years old)
The aim of this project is for pupils to:

Understand the process of creating art: influences, research, designing and producing and evaluating.

Discover for themselves which art style they are more drawn to between Surrealism or Realism? They will learn about different artists that look into the two contrasting art styles.

Learn the foundations colour theory and incorporating it into their clay face.

Learn about the chosen medium (clay) through a sculptor from Hong Kong, Greek history and material research (properties, advantages, disadvantages, uses of clay and more). As well as the practical element in handling and sculpting.
