This unit revisits some of the topics that you have already covered in terms of sex and relationships, however this unit will look more at the issues surrounding these topics. You will be considering your opinions and views mostly through discussion with some written tasks.

[1] Introduction to RSE

• The reasons that RSE is now statutory in all schools.
• To look at different views on RSE being taught in school.
• To consider the content of RSE and what should be taught and when.

[2] Gender Identity and Sexuality

• The different terms used when discussing gender and sexuality.
• How gender identity is a fluid and not binary
• The different ways of being an ally and challenging homophobia and transphobia.

[3] Relationships and Consent

• The elements of a healthy intimate relationship and consent. [Recap]
• The ways to identify an unhealthy relationship.
• The age of sexual consent around the world and what is considered sex trafficking.
• What sexual harassment is and how it can be challenged.

[4] Reproductive Health

• The different parts of both male and female reproductive organs.
• Recap contraceptive options
• The different types of STI/STD and treatments.
• How and why self examination is important.

[5] Pornography

• What is and is not legal in terms of pornography.
• The differences between what is seen in porn and what happens in real life.
• The impact of porn on society and relationships.
