Pixar short films are a great way to introduce and teach a range of topics.
They carry underlying messages and in this film a young boy must follow in his father’s footsteps to work on keeping the moon shining brightly each night.
There are opportunities to use this activity in conjunction with a unit on space, solar system, family and tradition. It would complement topics with science and nature, history of space travel, society (myths and legends around space) and creative arts with the symbology of the moon.
There is a range of fun literacy activity which are highly visual to cater for all learning needs. This includes Including cloze passage comprehension, first to last order, crossword, visual pictures to assist this style of learning, short sentence writing and the ability to add and remove sections that suit the needs of your students. In addition, there is an extension activity for students who need additional work.
