“Leicht zu verwechselnde Wörter im Deutschen” is a small dictionary of commonly confused words in German. There are lots of these kind of words present in this language that look or sound alike but have very different meanings. The most common groups are:
- minimal pairs - set of two words distinguished by a single sound,
- homophones - words which are different in spelling but identical in pronunciation,
- homographs - words that are identical in spelling but different in pronunciation.
This dictionary can be used in foreign language teaching to improve learners’ pronunciation and to extend their vocabulary. Furthermore, this kind of phonetic knowledge is needed in many other areas of training, e.g. during the study of linguistics, training as speech pathologist and acquisition of writing.
