For teaching 11-14s Civil Rights LGBT History

This lesson looks at How did life change for LGBT people through the 1950’s and 1960’s?

Students will start by looking at Marsha P Johnson and the Stonewall riots in America through a video on Youtube and then go on to look at British LGBT History

Students will then work in groups to work out if Pop Culture, Politics or Protest had the biggest impact on LBGT rights during this time.

Finally students will look at Alan Turing and suggest whether the inclusion on the £50 note suggests life has changed for LGBT people

This lesson includes all resources needed. Minimal resources needed - perfect for even setting as cover!
