This resource contains a well-researched and detailed annotated text from Macbeth Act 1 Scenes 1 & 2. The detailed annotations are color-coded and cover themes, characters, language, context, structure & and interpretation. There is also a page and a half of analysis covering the 2 scenes and ten comprehension questions to check understanding. Some of the questions can be delivered as group discussion or pair work. There is a glossary of unfamiliar words at the end.
The resource also includes a set of 16, carefully curated PowerPoint slides which cover textual analysis, characters, themes, mood and linguistic devices. Some of the slides are interactive and require students to respond to questions, identify themes and provide evidence. Most slides contain notes providing answers to questions, suggested execution strategies, follow ups, and further explanations / contextualization. Some slides contain special effects. The clipart characters are my own and are subject to normal copyright.
