Students will celebrate National Hispanic Heritage month and be able to recognize the artistic traditions of Mexico by designing and constructing their own versions of tin art represented by mirrors with the Aztec sun incorporated into the design as a metaphor to show how their talents shine. They will learn about the history of the tin work dating back to the 1500’s to give the students cultural exposure and show them that art can be made from many materials. They will also learn the definition and technique of creating radial symmetry and incorporating it into their design. A learning objective, subject summary and application in real life, materials needed for each student and the step by step directions needed to create this lesson are all detailed in each of my lesson plans.
