This extract gives weaker students a simplified and broken down way of accessing a non-fiction text. The first part poses comprehension and language activities to ensure the text is carefully read. The second part gives questions for language, writing about structure and evaluating a section of the extract.

There are writing activities to include vocabulary building, as well as the usual transactional exam style writing activity.

This extract looks at albino mode’s Xue Li’s progress from an orphanage in China to becoming a supermodel. It is suited to English (non-fiction) but also PSHE as a text which considers diversity (albinism)
