Number recognition and counting with one-to-one correspondence with the nursery rhyme, Little Dog Where’s Your Bone is sure to bring a lot of smiles to the children as they are learning important counting, number recognition, and language skills.
Set includes 10 dog bones, 10 dogs with numbers on them, and the rhyme.
The rhyme included is Little Dog, Little Dog where’s your bone?
Somebody stole it from your home?
Could it be you? Maybe the monkeys at the Zoo?
Wake up Doggy! Find your bone!
Choose one child to be the Dog and give one child in a whole group the bone. All children hide their hands behind their backs. The child hiding their eyes chooses a few classmates to find the bone. Once they find it they count the dots on the bone and match it with one of the dogs on the white board.
This rhyme can be used in whole group, small group settings, and even individual center work time. This is a game that incorporates language development as children chant rhyming words, one-to-one correspondence, and number recognition to 10. This is a great way to engage our earliest learners in a game of hiding the little dog’s bone and matching the bone with the correct dog.
