This set of resources contains multiple documents:

  • An overview of how to answer 12-mark synoptic questions from Paper 3 - OCR A Level Geography, with specific reference to the Disease Dilemmas topic. Guidelines are given on AO1 and AO2 weightings and how to structure a 12-mark answer, with an example plan. Evaluative comments are also emphasised, and examples of how to implement these in an answer are given.

  • There is also a question builder grid with links between the Disease Dilemmas topic, and the topics from Papers 1 and 2 (including Changing Spaces; Making Places and Earth’s Life Support Systems, as well as Coastal Landscapes, Human Rights and Global Migration as the optional topics). This question builder allows students to create an almost endless list of their own synoptic questions from all parts of the specification.

  • Thirdly, there is a topic links sheet with links drawn between Disease Dilemmas, and the optional topics listed above. Starter sentences are given with the specific link between each topic, which students need to finish with specific case study detail from their chosen examples.

  • Finally, a model answer is provided to answer the question: ‘It is more challenging to mitigate against communicable diseases in areas with human rights conflicts.’ How far do you agree with the statement? This answer follows the guidance given in the resources above.
