This read-and-respond poetry and craft activity for kids is a wonderful way to tune in to a gentle conversation with your students on the impact of a pandemic on individuals and society. With themes of life in a pandemic, isolation, diversity, community and creation, your class will be witness to and experience first-hand the proverbial saying that for ‘every cloud has a silver lining’. Bring back that feel-good sense of community to your little corner of the world by creating your very own environmentally friendly Spoonville in a pot, window or other suitable space for your classroom, learning area or home. Don’t forget to take a photo and write a caption detailing the who, what, where and why of your creations and email them on to me at tlctuition2.outlook.com to be included in my own special publication of Once Upon a Year.

I hope you and yours enjoy this activity as a little pick-me-up amongst the doom and gloom and the ups and the downs of this worldwide pandemic we are currently living and breathing. Happy crafting! Sandra Linnane
