Tilley’s times tables online game.
www.numberchase.co.uk
Looking to help your class learn times tables facts in a powerful confidence boosting way?

  • Covers tables up to 12x12.
  • Carefully designed to be helpful for all abilities,
  • The array images have been based on the slavonic abacus which has been shown to be very helpful to dyslexic pupils.
  • Share this game with your families as an easy way to prepare for the Multiplication Tables Check.
This game is purposefully based on brain science and is designed to show connections between tables facts so that your pupils have less facts to remember-for some pupils absolutely crucial.
This times tables game is uniquely powerful and fun. It is designed to support each child with lasting visual images. When they see tables facts in an array, it makes perfect sense that e.g 5x7 and 7x5 are the same and hey presto - the number of facts to be remembered has just been halved.
Because no-one finds it easy to remember one hundred and forty four unconnected facts this game uniquely makes a big deal about all the connections too! The images change showing for example the two times table double into the four times table and double again into the eights.
At Level 1 each pupil will secure their learning by connecting times tables facts to your their knowledge of addition and counting in 2’s,3’s…Audio and visual numbers are always there to help.
At Level 2 each pupil can connect an array picture to a times tables fact. There is a little less support as the audible numbers disappear.
At Level 3 each pupil can connect and see for example the three times table double into the six times table. They will see Tilley the tortoise introducing lots of other useful connections too.
At Level 4 to empower pupils ‘the answer’ comes first. The coloured array cleverly allows a child to see more easily how many there. The colours change to take into consideration that the brain can see a maximum of five objects without counting.
At Level 5 each pupil can take a quick look at the array before it disappears!
As a child completes Level 5 because they will have a brilliant understanding of times tables they can make sense and recall the facts acurately for the
Multiplication Tables Check but also throughout their education and beyond
As a child completes each step a puzzle piece is revealed alongside encouraging messages and a grand finale to leave them smiling.
Any incorrect entry is followed by an audio phrase e.g.”that answer and tables sum don’t match but no worries because mistakes lead to the most powerful learning”. The tables fact is then shown in array, verbal and number form alongside the answer entry.
