This full lesson PowerPoint (with suggested practical activity) will allow you to teach a broad range of abilities about oxidation reactions (including writing word equations and balanced equations). The lesson is in keeping with the current KS3 UK National Curriculum, is easily accessible for students and simple to follow for teachers.

This is one of several lessons that I offer for free so users can sample my work before deciding whether to pay for further resources. The other free lessons that I offer are detailed in the attached document “Year 8 Science lessons checklist”. If you find these lessons useful, please leave constructive reviews and take a look at the many discounted bundles that I offer across KS3 and KS4.

A really solid lesson for free, thanks for giving this away! The practical was simple and engaging (who doesn't love burning magnesium?!) but it also made my students observe how the substances differed before and after heating. I am finding balanced equations difficult with lower-ability groups but the visuals helped to explain this.
