Platt Amendment, Anti-Imperialist League

Why did the American Anti-Imperialist League strongly oppose U.S. imperialism, and how did they believe it conflicted with the principles of American democracy? This lesson and activity examines the background and impact of the Anti-Imperialist League and the Platt Amendment. Students will analyze primary and secondary source documents.
