The theory behind this work:
We have all worked with children who get ‘stuck’; who struggle to move beyond a tricky question; who cannot settle without support; who give up at the sight of something that is difficult; who just point-blank refuse; who do not even try because they believe they will not succeed. The ‘script it or skip it’ strategy can be used to support them. As with any strategy, it cannot be done to the child, it needs to be done with the child remembering
to “Reach them to teach them.”
