I would to disagree regarding the validity of our study. Internal validity is about determining whether the IV caused the DV. On that front, this study was more than adequate. Regarding external validity, that was not really the point of this study. It had adequate experimental realism, and that is what was needed here. Conducting this kind of research "in the field," though it could increase external validity, would dramatically decrease internal validity, and that would be a big problem.
